We have 'weathered' through our existence over the winter in New York. There has been lots of snow, which is good for skiing and snowshoing. Most of our time was spent in the red barn apartment of our friends HarunMuf near Treadwell. I tried my hand at writing fiction, participating in National Writing Month in November. I got over 50,000 words written by December 7 on the first of a nine-part series. The title of the work is the Nine Lives Society, about a man who lives nine lives. It was an interesting exercise, but just getting the words down was easy. The rewriting part is hard and arduous, I didn't get very far with that. So my novel writing is on hold for now. Kathy got a clean bill of health to do whatever she wants to physically, so she is skiing and snowshoing now. She had been walking a lot prior to that. I just bought a townhouse in Binghamton, it's modest and it doesn't have a garage but we liked the place well enough and the neighbors were friendly. It will be a good home base as we will be traveling and volunteering for much of the year. Now the big news, we have accepted an assignment at Rocky Mountain National Park for the summer. We start in early June, working at the Holzwarth Historic district of the park. It's on the western side and is more remote. Being at 9000 feet, it will also be cooler there in the summer. We will stay in one of the historic cabins, and the pictures we were sent show that it's rustic and pleasant. It has an extra bedroom, so we can put up guests. Having spent time at Bryce which is 8000 feet gives us an idea what we will be in for at RMNP. We have a lot of reading to do in preparation for RMNP, plus we want to see more places while we are out there so we have a lot to figure out on that. So we are excited about getting back out west, this time not towing a trailer.
